This event will bring 5 playwrights, 5 directors, 5 stage managers, and up to 14 actors together for a
24-hour period to create 5 brand new, completely original one-act plays written, directed, and
performed by 3N students.
You don't have to be a theatre major to participate. This program is open to anyone that's ever wanted
to work on a new play!
Here's how this will work:
On Friday evening, November 7 at 7:00pm, five playwrights will receive the number of actors they will
write for, anonymous descriptions of the actors, and a trigger line of text that must be used in all five
plays. Once this has been determined, the playwrights will be sent away to write. At 8:00am the next
morning, Saturday, November 8, the five playwrights will hand over their new plays to the directors and
actors. There will be an initial read-through of the play, then the playwrights will go get some sleep,
and the director, stage manager, and actors will get to work. They will have until 6:00pm to rehearse,
and then at 7:30pm, the plays will be presented in the C-3 mini-theatre in a script-in-hand
performance.
If you are interested in serving as a playwright, director, actor, or stage manager, please email me your
name, 3N address, the role you would like to play in the process, and your cell phone number at
js1655@nyu.edu by November 4 at 5:00pm. There are a limited number of slots to participate, so act
fast!
I hope that you will join us for what promises to be an exciting creative process. And a lot of fun too!
Thanks!
