Ask anyone about AIDS and they'll tell you that no cure exists. They are correct, but ask anyone what the letters ARV stand for and few can tell you that ARVs are anti-retroviral drugs that, when taken daily with a nutritious diet, can help sustain life for those living with HIV/AIDS. A complete cure may also not be far off on the horizon with the rise of gene therapy and recent successful eradications of the disease in individuals after bone marrow transplants.
This event is a SILENT RAVE to mark how far we've come in the fight and how far we must go. Hopefully, this night will be a fun way of becoming informed, armed, and invigorated soldiers in this uphill battle.
Soooooooo, you're asking "but what IS a silent rave?!"
Answer: Make your own soundtrack of your life! Put a playlist of your favorite songs on your iPod, Mp3 plays, etc. and bring them down to C3 mini-theater in Third North. We'll all rock out with strobe lights, a movie screened in the TV lounge, food, and other fun things (like a raffle for a t-shirt SIGNED BY ALICIA KEYS!!!!!!!).
***Don't have an iPod/Mp3 player??? No worries! Every 10-15 minutes we'll all break the silence by turning off our own iPods and dancing to the same music!
(DJ & 3Ner Zach Feldman will be laying down the beats for us yyyaaaaayyyy)
All proceeds will benefit Keep A Child Alive (www.keepachildalive.org).
$2 to get in at the door (first 100 people or so get a KCA bracelet).
ROCK OUT AND SUPPORT A GREAT CAUSE!
